Granulometry (Screen Size)

Sorting beans by physical size using a stack of numbered screens, each with progressively smaller holes.

• •Screen sizes are numbered in 64ths of an inch — a common range runs roughly from screen 13 up to screen 20.
• •Screen size separation is usually the final step at the dry mill before bagging and export.
• •A tolerance of about ±5% around the stated screen size is standard.
• •More uniform screen size generally roasts more evenly and is often traded at a premium.
